In 2020, a new place for family leisure and recreation was opened on the former abandoned farmland between the “Ogrody” and the “Wschód” residential quarters. The new park is dedicated to Sulphur Miners. The park sprawls across 12 hectares and has 600 trees and 40 thousand flowers and ornamental shrubs. Some of the trees are planted along the avenues to provide shade on sunny summer days. The park has paths for walking, cycling and roller-blading, children’s playgrounds, outdoor gyms and discovery paths. The park’s designers decided to use the existing landscape features, breathing new life into the neglected orchard and the pond. They also added hedgehog and insect houses, nesting boxes for birds, and a fenced dog park. The Sulphur Miners Park is the largest recreational and sports area in Staszów.
The park in numbers:
- total area of 12.56 hectares
- 2.2 km of walking and cycling paths
- 625 planted trees
- 40,000 planted shrubs
